‘Circles of Care’
by Ana Carolina Estarita-Guerrero
Circles of Care is an immersive multimedia installation that explores the subject of care and how acts of care are transformative forces on our environment. The visual music is affected by the hand gestures of participants, who, through “caring” hand gestures (caressing, rubbing, holding...), become the “Caretakers” of the piece, which unfolds as a process of growth and decay. At the centre of the Circle of Care is the idea that taking care of a living system, whether a creature, a garden or another person, gives order to the lives of those who take care.
Ana Carolina Estarita-Guerrero is an immersive artist and educator whose work problematises the boundaries between the individual and their surroundings, examines the intricate relationship between technology and memory, and explores the complexities of embodiment in digital environments.
Featured at venues like Getty, LACMA, and Animafest Zagreb, she's now touring with "All Time Stop Now," an experimental opera product of a collaboration with the artist Anna Luisa Petrisko. A curator for the GLAS Animation Festival ASIFA short film of the month, Ana teaches XR-centric courses at both LMU and USC. Additionally, she provides immersive media education and shares resources online.
